Nature’s Oldest Wake-Up Call

Nature’s Oldest Wake-Up Call

If you're an early riser or have happened to be awake as the sun comes up - you're likely to have been treated to what can only be described as Nature's Music Festival: The Dawn Chorus.

Once heard, it's amazing to believe it can even be slept through as it is quite a hearty performance!  Each year on the first Sunday of May our feathered friends have a day dedicated to their magnificent cacophony and this year it falls on 1st May - also known as May Day.

This time of year heralds new beginnings in the natural world with the emergence of some of the earliest blooms like primroses (the name is derived from the Latin 'first rose').
Spring can be an inspirational time to follow nature's cues, emerge from our cosy Winter slumber and seek out new beginnings. Our minds and bodies benefit from this seasonal shift too and we naturally start adapting to the longer days and extra sunlight hours.

As we start to pack away our Winter woolies we also need to think about adjusting our skincare regime. It's not necessarily about swapping old for new, but rather changing the focus from nourishing and soothing to brightening and smoothing
To help guide you through the seasonal change and update your routine, just follow these three easy steps:

1. DEEP CLEANSE
Cleansing is a mainstay in your routine. It's as vital in  Summer as it is in Winter.  Choose a cleanser that suits your skin type and supports your skin's natural barrier.  Cleanse for 60 seconds twice a day to maintain a diamond clear complexion.

2. EXFOLIATE & DECONGEST
If you're suffering from congested skin, it's time to review your usual routine.  Heavy creams can block pores leaving skin dull and congested. Instead use a facial oil to balance oil production and nourish thirstier complexions.  Naturally non comedogenic, meaning it wont block pores causing further sebaceous build up.

A weekly clay mineral mask will also assist to ensure any surface impurities are drawn out whilst providing a light exfoliation.  Our new Ubtan Scrub is a true multi-tasker here, it can be administered as a mask or a cleansing scrub to leave your complexion even, soft and bright.
3. BRIGHTEN & SMOOTH
Glowy skin can be tricky to achieve and even harder to maintain.  Niacinamide supports the skin barrier, smooths and reduces the appearance of pores and surface imperfections.  Hyaluronic Acid is the key to ultimate hydration, binding moisture deep into the dermal layer and holding it there resulting in a plumped dewy complexion.  These two symbiotic ingredients can be found in our mighty Ultra Hydrating Serum.

Vitamin C is also brilliant for boosting brightness , as well as collagen production and is a key ingredient found in our facial oils.  These complete the final step to lock in the hydration applied from the serum and provide a lightweight moisturising barrier for the skin.
